What we've built in
Pages use headings and landmarks, buttons and form fields have labels, and a “Skip to main content” link comes first. Status, such as whether a place is open or verified, is always shown in words, not by color alone.
You never have to share your location: you can type a city or ZIP code instead. Every result on the map also appears in the list view. Mae Helps is available in English and Spanish, and phone numbers can be tapped to call.
Our goal
We are working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. Mae Helps has not had an independent accessibility audit yet, so we don't claim full conformance.
Known limitations
The map view is visual. If you use a screen reader, the list view shows the same results. Websites and help lines we link to are run by other organizations, and their accessibility is outside our control.
